Lecturer in Information and Communication Design

Dr Matthew Baxter’s work applies design theory and visual communication approaches to improve the clarity, accessibility and effectiveness of information. His research focuses on communicating health-related information through innovative graphics and information design approaches.

His work includes developing public health infographics, instructional materials, surgery preparation resources and medication guidance. He collaborates with academic and industry partners on projects including the NIHR-funded Recover Together initiative, which aims to improve recovery after bowel cancer surgery, and works with Luto to optimise Information for Use medication leaflets. Through his teaching and research, he applies information and communication design to practical challenges within healthcare and beyond.
